Details

M J. Newman is an award-winning photographer and visual storyteller, blending a passion for architecture, nature, and the human form to create evocative and intimate imagery. Based in Sherman, Connecticut, and Brooklyn Heights, New York, their work captures the vulnerability, beauty, and emotional depth of the male form, merging physicality with the natural world in striking narratives.

A self-taught artist, M J. launched MJ.N Photography in 2012, transforming a creative outlet into a thriving business that has gained international recognition. Their work has been featured in renowned publications such as Fienfh, Loike, L'attirance, HöN, and Aestycc. As a photographer in residence at Gallery 25 in New Milford, Connecticut, and a board member of the Sherman Artists Association, M J. is deeply connected to the local art scene. Recently, they were honored with an award for their contributions to the “Reflections” exhibition in Connecticut.

M J.'s process is rooted in building authentic connections with models and selecting diverse, inspiring locations that enhance each narrative. Drawing inspiration from iconic figures like Jim French and Tom Bianchi, they create works that juxtapose the strength and sensuality of the male form against architectural and natural backdrops. Their photography celebrates masculinity, vulnerability, and the interplay of light, skin, and emotion.

With a professional background spanning 18 years in global operations and program management at leading companies like Google, AWS, and Workiva, M J.'s work is informed by extensive travel and cultural immersion across six continents. This diverse experience enriches their artistic perspective, resulting in photography that transcends conventional boundaries.

MJ.N Photography is more than a business—it is a celebration of the human experience, offering a unique lens through which viewers can explore the timeless beauty of the male form and its connection to the world around it. Follow their work on Instagram (@mj.nphotography).
